New Feng Fei Fei MV

Feng Fei Fei is a Taiwanese singer who got started in the 70s, but she's releasing a new and best album "I Want to Fly With You" this month.  YesAsia has the release set for December 28th, but I suspect it's already out.  The album includes tracks in both Mandarin and Taiwanese Hokkien.  The MV for the title track has been released.  "I Want to Fly With You" is a ballad in both Mandarin and Hokkien, and she's not wearing a hat in the MV (which is unusual for her):

Hangeng leaves because Zhou Mi laughs at earthquakes

Yesterday, news broke out that Super Junior member Han Geng submitted a formal application to court, wishing to terminate his contract with management company SM Entertainment. This left the public very puzzled and fans also did not understand why he took this action. But immediately after this, SJ-M’s ‘happy gate’ scandal was exposed, and left everyone thinking whether this whole contract termination ordeal is just to cover up SJ-M’s scandal and divert the public’s attention.

SJ-M is Super Junior’s 3rd sub-unit, designated to target the Chinese market. Under Han Geng’s lead, SJ-M have developed successfully in China, and they even have their own exclusive fan club. Recently, SJ-M attended various award ceremonies in China & Taiwan. On the 19th of December, the 53rd Asia Pacific Film Festival was held in Kaohsiung and SJ-M were invited as special guests. The whole process seemed to go very smoothly, however a 6.8 magnitude earthquake suddenly struck Taiwan and became the fuse of the ‘happy gate’ scandal.

After the awards ceremony, during an interview, SJ-M member Zhou Mi laughed saying: “When the earthquake struck just then, it was just like playing.” Moreover, Zhou Mi even used last year’s Si Chuan earthquake as comparison, saying: “Last year, when we were promoting in China, we also met an earthquake, and it was pretty happy.” And Han Geng who was beside him immediately rushed forward to clarify: “He (Zhou Mi) doesn’t mean happy.” However, it was too late, as everything was already recorded by the media.

After the scandal was exposed online, SJ-M have remained silent. When reporters contacted SJ-M’s performance representative, he said that he is currently on vacation, and is unclear about the situation, and is also inconvenient for him to disclose anything. And SJ-M’s Korean manager has yet to answer his phone.

But coincidentally, yesterday, all the major Chinese news sites published the Han Geng contract termination news at almost exactly the same time. And according to one of the new site’s entertainment editor, she revealed that the news was provided by SJ-M’s side, and that they even specified the location to where the news would be published to make it as eye-catching as possible.

Actress Lin Chiling's luggage pried open in KL

KUALA LUMPUR : Taiwanese beauty Lin Chiling lost a Longines watch and other accessories worth a total of 200,000 Taiwan dollars (S$10,000) after her luggage was pried open while she was in Malaysia.

The actress flew in from China aboard a China Airlines flight and arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at around 10pm local time on Monday. She was in the Malaysian capital to promote her latest film "The Treasure Hunter" in which she stars with Taiwanese singer Jay Chou.

Luggage for business class passengers are usually processed and go through customs ahead of baggage of other passengers. However, Lin's luggage only appeared with her entourage's eight other pieces of luggage almost one hour after her flight touched down.

Lin did not notice anything wrong with her luggage until she got to her hotel room, where she discovered the locks on her luggage had been pried open and damaged. She immediately informed a representative of the local film distributor and got them to contact the customs office.

Lin expressed through her manager that she was a little unhappy about her loss, lamenting that "there were no problems the day before in Beijing but how did (her items) vanish in Malaysia?"

"Chiling has always been very careful. We had no problems even after travelling to so many places yet this time her luggage was the only one out of our nine pieces of luggage that was stolen from," said her manager.

The 35-year-old model-turned-actress who made her movie debut in John Woo's 2008 historical epic "Red Cliff", plays Lan Ting, the love interest of Jay Chou's character Qiao Fei in "The Treasure Hunter".

The pair are in Singapore on December 22 to promote the film about a group of adventurers who race against time to protect an ancient treasure from an international crime syndicate. It is slated to open in theatres on December 31.

Known as the "nasal song queen" and reigned over the Bund in the 40s Shanghai with the song BRIGHT MOON SENDS YEARNING OVER THOUSANDS OF MILES (MING YUET CHIN LEI GEI SEUNG SI), Wu Inging passed away on the 17th in Los Angeles, USA at the age of 87. Reportedly Wu Inging after entering the hospital for a foot surgery has been in unstable condition until the morning of the 17th when she passed away.

Wu Yingyin
was a famous singer in the 40s Shanghai Bund. Her gentle voice and an uniquely blue nasal sound earned her renown that made her "Four Great Heavenly Queens" with fellow hot Shanghai contemporary singers Zhou Xuan, Bai Guang, and Li Xianglan. Her songs I HAVE A ROMANCE, NIGHT OF JIANGNAN, MINGJIANG NIGHT SONG were sung for many generations.

Wu Yingyin was born in 1922 in Shanghai. Originally named Wu Jianqiu, due to her wonderful singing that was like a new born oriole the audience called her "oriole sound". Because she insisted on keeping her last name, her stage name became Wu Yingyin. Wu Yingyin had the gift of singing since she was little. Any song that the radio played she was able to sing just from hearing it. At 22 she released her first record. At 24 she won a singing contest at a famous night club and became a shining singing star. Later she signed with EMI as a singer. Her footsteps could be traced to all the top Shanghai night spots.

In 1948, the 26 year old Wu Yingyin began recording her first solo record titled I WANT TO FORGET YOU. As soon as it was released she was famous all over. In the next three years she also records SINCE MARRYING YOU, SPRING LIGHT IS ENDLESSLY GOOD, HEARTBROKEN RED and other hits that made her a superstar.

After retiring from the stage, Wu Yingyin settled in Los Angeles, USA in 1987 but did not give up singing. She often performed in Chinese neighborhoods, community celebrations and charity events. After Hong Kong Hand Over, she made a comeback and performed for four years in a row at the Hong Kong Coliseum. Every show was sold out. Wu Yingyin loved her singing career and her fans as she sincerely performed. In 2004, in her 80s Wu Yingyin performed in Singapore but suffered from a severe case of cold sore that the doctor recommended hospitalization for. She did not want to disappoint fans and insisted on performing with heavy make up. She only began her treatment after five shows.

Idk exactly who she is, but from the description she sounds like one of those chicks you hear singing in some of those old HK films, where it sounds like it's coming out of an old radio or smth.

Hangeng of Super Junior and SJM recently filed for termination with his company SM Entertainment.

Article in Chinese HERE

Summary from Cfensi:

According to South Korean news, the only Chinese member of South Korean boyband Super Junior, Han Geng formally submitted papers to Seoul’s Central Court requesting termination of his exclusive contract with SM company. The details of the termination lawyers have said can not be conveniently disclosed to the public at this time.

The rest of the article is background info about DBSG’s lawsuit, Han Geng in China etc. I see both bad and good in this (from just my perspective).

Source: Sina (Sina is an entirely credible source for Chinese news, one of the most reliable for Chinese entertainment so I assume this is true)

There was also a poll that accompanied the article:

Do you support Han Geng Leaving SJ?

When this was posted the tallies were:

59% said they supported him

25% said they wanted him with SJ

8% said they hadn’t reached a conclusion

7% said they didn’t care

Yan Kuan’s been off the radar for a year, but due to his role in the anticipated Water Margin series he’s been receiving continuous press, from his training regimen to his costumes. Film Composer San Bao Comes Back After Two Years to the Stage

Dec. 20th, 2009 | 04:44 pm
posted by: [info]kycoo in [info]aiyatheydidnt

Composer San Bao two years ago fell seriously ill. Since then, he’s been inactive, regaining his health, but it’s been announced that he was planning on making a return to the art scene, by staging a symphonic concert at Henan. San Bao is known for scoring Zhang Yimou’s Not One Less and The Road Home as well as several theme songs, including Jin Fen Shi Jia’s An Xiang.

Some San Bao: Music from The Road Home (in the form of a ZZY montage bc it was the only thing I found on youtube – sorry!)

Because tv and film composers develop later than the film industry, China’s in a desperate need for composers. He says he will concentrate on musical theater now, and does not plan to write for tv or film anymore.

Song Xiaobo was runner-up of the 2006 My Hero contest, which allows companies to sign talent afterward. He was deaf and mute, and thus, had more limited options in entertainment, but he’s been keeping very busy with acting and most recently, he opened a studio with friends. The first model he invited was Lou Jing, top 30 contestant of Jia You!Dragon Angels, the female version of My Hero.

You might remember Lou Jing because she was actually in English news a while back, when she was attacked by netizens for covering up her birth history (her mother had an extramarital affair). English reports erroneously attributed it to being about race (way to just ignore part-Indian Tan Lina from Supergirls whose race no one cares about). Anyway, Lou Jing looks gorgeous here, as captured by Song Xiaobo.

The first of those being you are now allowed FIVE choices for album of the year.  Mostly because I see a variety of things being chosen and there isn't a flood of commenters, so I think we can handle five.  So, you can do one of two things to add two more choices:

1.Delete your original comment and post a new one
2.Reply to your comment with two more choices or edit it if you have a paid account and no one has replied to it already.

Get your nominations in for BEST ALBUM OF 2009!

The second thing is, Idk if the weird HTML bug is still in effect here on LJ, but if it is (and it looks like it is), the simplest way to get around it is to make sure you're switched to HTML view BEFORE you post.  I don't want to see anymore crappily formatted posts getting in, lol.  Which also reminds me, if you're going to post a large Youtube vid (anything over 425x344), it MUST BE BEHIND A CUT.  If it's not, I will probably reject it since it seems like there are a few who do not fix their posts after they get through.

Ty for your time. :)

JJ Lin’s releases new MV for “Jia You” single!

Dec. 19th, 2009 | 05:51 pm
posted by: [info]lehninguh in [info]aiyatheydidnt

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

It’s been a great week for JJ Lin fans this week. Not only did JJ release album lucky number seven exactly fourteen months after his 2008 album “Sixology”, but he also treated his fans to the release of a new MV to his second song “Jia You” shortly after. Unlike his previous orchestrated ballad single from the same album, “Jia You” incorporates a more R&B vibe with soft synths, a soothing piano accompaniment, and light drum beats. Throw in cameo rapping by hip-hop artist MC HotDog, and you have yourself pure audio bliss.

For the new MV, JJ once again gets to demonstrate both his acting prowess and smooth dance moves that has served him well in previous MVs. This time, JJ plays the part of an unassuming gas station attendant that spends his off-days at a coffeehouse, usually browsing his Facebook page on his Mac. While on the surface it may seem like a strange plot device, it works well as it fits nicely with his interactions of the other characters in the story.

Not only do we have an MV that provides an entertaining and unique story, but we are treated with a wonderful “soundtrack” that accompanies the unfolding plot. How awesome is that?

Seriously, it’s a good time to be a JJ fan.

"The Little Tigers" to take stage on CCTV gala

Dec. 19th, 2009 | 04:36 pm
posted by: [info]kycoo in [info]aiyatheydidnt

1990s Taiwan pop idol band "The Little Tigers" will reunite for the 2010 CCTV Spring Festival Gala, following the upcoming comeback of semi-retired pop queen Faye Wong on the same stage, China News Service reports on Tuesday.

Alec Su, Nicky Wu, and Julian Chen of the former boy band trio are now working with different agencies, which are all supportive of the prospective reunion and will manage to fit it into their work schedule.

Singer-actor Nicky Wu who is busy shooting his late project in Hengdian, Zhejiang, confirmed the news, adding he was nervous as the gala program will be broadcast live. Another member, Julian Chen expressed his delight at the reunion and revealed his agent is working on it.

It is yet to be discovered whether "The Little Tigers" will reprise their hit songs, while that's what many netizens are hoping for.

"The Little Tiger" was formed in 1988 and disbanded in 1995. It was the first singing group to debut in the Taiwan music industry. They enjoyed great success and ushered in a new generation of Taiwanese pop culture in early 1990s.
